Job Title: Senior Hyperion Planning & Essbase Administrator/Financial Analyst
Location: Galleria Area, Houston TX

You will support the Directors of Financial Reporting Systems and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) in the development and administration of Hyperion Planning & Essbase applications.  This is a liason role where you will partner with the FP&A / Accounting teams supporting key business activities related to the creation and delivery of accurate, reliable financial forecasts / budgets, financials and operational results. 
You must be able to manage and execute a number of technical elements that we  have in place. Some of these include:
  • Direct experience in configuring Hyperion Planning applications with both standard and composite data forms, integrated task lists and complex rules for allocations, intercompany eliminations, currency translation, etc.
    • Experience should be on release directly
    • Exposure with single applications with multiple plan types
    • Exposure to FDMEE integration to planning with limited Lock and Send data inputs
    • Master data integration is fully developed with Hyperion DRM – so you must be able to understand DRM and related attributes and how those impact or manifest in issues within Hyperion Planning
    • Ability to support multiple users in entry and maintenance of monthly forecasts at a Job level as well as rapidly support data corrections that may be required to restate prior planning errors
  • Direct experience building and maintaining Essbase cubes (both BSO and ASO) and related data movements into and between cubes (We currently will have 6 cubes at deployment)
    • Experience should be on release directly
    • Integration is from FDMEE only either with direct links to source ERP systems or Excel Template submissions
    • Full understanding of partitions (Primarily Transparent but also Replicated and Linked)
      • We have a single transparent partition which sources from five different data sources
    • Understanding of how master data changes at a base level will require data restructures and a confident ability to manage those changes within appropriate change control parameters
      • Ideally this includes a good working knowledge of DRM such that interactions between the DRM Administrator and Essbase / Planning Administrator are direct and complete without undue cycles
    • Exposure to ODI which is used to update Essbase and Planning outlines on a daily basis –such that failures of those updates can be rapidly triaged and resolved
    • Full understanding of MAXL scripting and the implications of such to application security and supporting calculations
    • Ability to work with Oracle Support and our IT Infrastructure to trouble shoot and support bug resolution at a technical level
The above are the cornerstones of this position. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, with a preferred background in IT or MIS.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience working with Hyperion Planning and Essbase Development and Administration, including 3-5 years as the responsible administrator.
  • Experience with the Hyperion suite (Planning, Essbase, SmartView and FDMEE) a must.
  • Expertise in Essbase cube analysis, design and maintenance, Essbase database administration, upgrades, performance tuning and optimization.
  • Working knowledge on Financial Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting process and functions.
  • Understands dependencies and interrelationships between functional components of Hyperion Planning among forms, business rules, calculation scripts, variables and Essbase databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate requirements into design and subsequent solution build.
  • Experience with Classic methods of metadata management is highly preferred.
  • ASO and BSO Essbase application development/configuration and support – Outlines, dimensions, measures, members, metadata administration with ability to design databases and complex calculations including MaxL scripting.
  • Experience with Essbase Excel add in, SmartView and FR reporting.
