Job Type: Full Time
Job ID: W4141723

The engineering director at this hot educational technology startup is expanding the software development team. I'm helping him recruit 2 senior software engineers to join the 10 engineer team and expand the product offerings. If you're a software engineer who wants his/her work to have a real-world impact, this is for you! You'll be making a positive contribution to helping K-12 schools be better.

There are some really cool products underway, including work with recommendation engines, data visualizations from massive datasets, and image processing. It's mostly a Ruby on Rails and JavaScript stack, but they'll happily consider you if you've built large-scale production web applications in other modern languages such as Python or others. Seeking approximately 4-5+ years building web applications using Ruby on Rails, Python, Node.js and/or other Javascript framework.

I’m Phil Hurd, the principal of Oculus Search Partners. Software professionals have trusted me as their recruiting partner for 30 years because:
  • Expertise. I earned a BSEE and MSEE, and was a computer engineer before becoming a search and placement professional. You’ll be represented by someone who understands what you do, and knows how to leverage that understanding to create opportunities for you.
  • Reputation. Over 60 LinkedIn recommendations attest to my integrity and effectiveness.
  • Network. I have personally placed, or been involved with placing, several thousand software engineers over my career, and have built a deep network with VPE’s, CEO’s, HR, etc. I can not only open doors for you, but can help you improve your resume, prepare you for interviews, and help you negotiate a strong offer package.
  • No BS. I don’t like when a salesperson pressures me, and I’m sure you don’t want that from a recruiter. You’re a professional, so am I, and my approach reflects that philosophy. And specifically, I will NEVER submit your resume to any company without prior discussion and buy-in from you.
  • Respect. I never forget that this is your job search, and your life, and our interactions will reflect that philosophy.
